Fort McMurray Potters' Guild


The Fort McMurray Pottery Guild is a non-profit organization founded in 1983 for the purpose of promoting clay arts. The pottery studio is a place for our members and students to share ideas and techniques and to explore the craft of pottery.  Our skills range from the beginner to the expert level.  

Fort McMurray Potters' Guild offers Beginner Adult Classes for those 18 yrs and older and Children's Classes for kids 8 - 12 yrs. Classes are held from Sept through April of each year. Use of tools, clay, glazes and the cost of firing are all included in the class fee.

ADULT CLASSES (18+ yrs) 

Registration fee: $235

Run for 8 consecutive weeks. Participants will learn how to work with clay, learn hand-building and throwing techniques, trimming, and glazing to finish your pieces. Classes are usually offered in the evening from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Morning classes may also be available depending on demand/instructor availability.

KIDS CLASSES (8-14 yrs only)

Registration fee: $150

Run for 5 consecutive weeks. Kids will learn hand-building techniques and will finish pieces by painting and glazing. Classes are offered after school from 4:00 - 5:30. 

Please respect the class age ranges; the number of instructors / class activities classes are planned accordingly. You may be asked to present a birth certificate or ID for kids class registration. If kids are identified to be under the age of 8 after classes start, parents will be advised that they cannot return to complete the classes, and fees refunded.

Due to COVID-19 Restrictions there are no classes currently being offered.

Once restrictions have been eased this will be reviewed and additional information on Classes will be posted here.​ 


When can I Register?

  • Registration can be sent in by email to hold your spot but must be paid in person on either date listed above.  

Where can I pay for my Registration?

  • The Pottery Guild in the Casman Centre, 110 Eymundson Dr. 

What do I need to bring? 

  • Payment for the class. 

What forms of Payment do you take?

  • We accept Cash, Cheque or Credit Card. 
  • No e-transfers please.

Can I sign up for other people?

  • No, for the Adult Class only ONE application will be accepted per person. ​
